How to Install IPTV on Android TV & Google TV

Android TV and Google TV devices make IPTV easy — they run the player app natively. This guide covers the Walmart Onn 4K box, Google TV / Chromecast, Nvidia Shield, Sony and TCL Android TVs, and most Android-based projectors.

Two ways to install

Most Android TV boxes can install the player straight from the Downloader app (Method A). If your device blocks that, you can sideload it (Method B). Try Method A first — it's the quickest.

Method A — Install with Downloader (easiest)

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your device and install the free Downloader app.
  2. Open Downloader. If prompted, allow it to install unknown apps (Settings → Apps → Security, or the prompt that appears).
  3. In the URL box, enter the code or address from our Download page and press Go.
  4. When the player downloads, choose Install, then Open.

Method B — Sideload (if Downloader is blocked)

Some locked-down TVs hide the install option. In that case:

  1. Go to Settings → System → About and click Build seven times to unlock Developer Options, then turn on USB debugging / Unknown sources.
  2. Use the Send Files to TV app (free on both your phone and TV) or a USB drive to copy the player APK over, then open it to install.

Sign in

Open the player and enter the three details from your subscription:

Select Connect — your full channel list and guide load automatically.

Device-specific notes

Walmart Onn 4K / Onn 4K Pro

The Onn boxes are excellent value and run the player smoothly. Use Method A — Downloader installs from the Play Store with no fuss.

Nvidia Shield

The most powerful Android TV device; great for 4K and large channel lists. Method A works perfectly.

Google TV / Chromecast with Google TV

Works with Method A. If the player doesn't appear on the home row, find it under Apps → See all apps.

Frequently asked questions

Is Android TV better than a FireStick for IPTV?

Both work great. Android TV devices like the Onn 4K and Nvidia Shield tend to have more power and storage, while a FireStick is cheaper and just as capable for everyday viewing. Prefer a FireStick? See our FireStick install guide.

Can I use one subscription on my TV and my phone?

The app won't install — what now?

Make sure "install unknown apps" is allowed for Downloader, then retry. If it's still blocked, use Method B (sideload) or tap the chat button and we'll walk you through it.
